Asthma Hospital Visits, 2005-2008
Based on data provided to the RI Department of Health by area Hospitals, ProvPlan was able to map the average annual asthma-related Emergency Department (ED) visits per 1000 population by tract. Note that tracts are based on population (target: ~4,000) so they tend to be much larger in more rural or suburban areas.
Data are from 2005-2008 and do not include independent walk-in clinics, only major hospitals. Individual record-level data are coded by 2000 Census Tract by hospital personnel and passed on to the Health Department. Of the 17,103 records, 1,133 (6.6%) did not have a tract identifier.
